REGISTRATION JUST OPENED UP FOR THE 2025-2026 SAT

SAT Registration Opens August 23, 2025

Registration for the entire 2025-26 SAT testing year is officially open! College Board flipped the switch this week, letting students everywhere choose any weekend SAT date from August 2025 through June 2026 in a single sitting. Below is what you need to know—dates, deadlines, and smart planning tips.

The 2025-26 SAT calendar at a glance

*College Board lists June registration as “opening soon,” but the posted deadlines show what to expect.

Picking the right test date

  1. Back-plan from your application deadlines.

    • Early-decision or Restricted Early Action applications are mostly due November 1–15 → target August 23 or September 13 so you have scores back in time for submission.

    • Regular decision → October, November, or even December works, but earlier leaves room to retest.

  2. Map against your workload.

    • Fall athletes often prefer the August SAT (before the season peaks) or the March SAT (after winter training but before the playoffs).

    • AP heavy juniors sometimes skip May because AP Exams wrap only days later; June can be a clean slate once finals end.

  3. Consider prep runway. Industry data still shows that targeted prep and practice yields the largest score jumps. Count backward at least three months, longer if possible, from test day to open your study schedule.

Early-bird advantages

  • Best seat in the house. Popular suburban centers and Saturday accommodations rooms do fill up. Registering early locks in a short commute (and maybe that large-desk classroom you liked last time).

  • Lower anxiety. With your account set, you can focus on prep, not logistics.

Final thoughts

Don’t delay -- move swiftly, but make deliberate choices. Look at your school calendar, slot the SAT date that best complements your academics and activities, and claim your seat while options are wide open. Then pivot to what really moves the needle: consistent, reflective practice on the digital platform you’ll see on test day.
