Essay Coach and Application Assistant, Writing and English Literature Tutor

Clara is a poet and writer who received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Grinnell College. She received the National Writers Series award in Fiction in 2014 and the Selden Whitcomb prize in poetry in 2016, and has her work featured in journals such as The Rumpus, Heavy Feather Review, The Normal School, and more. During her writing education, Clara led a writing and performance workshop and acted as a member of the selection committee for the Grinnell Review, the campus literary journal. Clara also provided one-on-one essay editing for students in beginner English courses at Grinnell College. As a former employee of the non-profit direct-action organization CODEPINK, she has put her writing talents to developing national campaign petitions, press releases, and copy-editing. Before joining CCC, Clara worked for independent college counselors in the Traverse City area, working with their students on their college application essays. For CCC, Clara assists students with their college applications and essays, and also tutors writing, English literature, and social studies subjects.
